The contest entries for the Neo Spring Coding Contest are still coming in. This time, PlayStation Portable homebrew developer danzel has released CTorrentPSP - a torrent client  for Sony's handheld console.

Coder danzel developed CTorrentPSP under custom firmware 3.90 M33-2 using PSPLINK and it's being run under 3.xx kernel. Take note, however, that firmware 1.5 isn't supported. But the developer says that if you want to, you can make it work on 1.5 if you use the code.

According to danzel, this is how to use the application:

  • Put .torrent file in torrents/ folder.
  • Run CTorrentPSP.
  • Choose the torrent to download.
  • Choose the Access point to connect to.
  • Wait for file to download.
  • Delete the resources/splash.png to get rid of the splash screen.
  • Quit.
The coder recommends that you read the README.PSP file that comes with the package for more details, including a list of controls and a list of bugs. As with all homebrew applications for your Sony PSP, kindly exercise caution when downloading and installing the software.
