Twenty one years is simply nowhere near enough time for murdering an 18 day old child just because he interrupted a videogame, and how does this piece of slime get away with manslaughter? Pretty damn revolting stuff, makes you just shake your head and wonder what's going on with our legal system.
Details after the jump.
On Oct. 26th, 2007, Rene Edward Barrios was charged with looking after his girlfriends 18 day old infant who lay sleeping in the next room. Presently, the infant started to cry, sending Barrios into a rage, pausing the gam, he went into the room, grabbed the child, shook him and then hit him before returning to his gaming session. By the time Barrios went back to check on the baby he was blue and unconscious, the poor child died at the hospital and Barrios was immediately arrested.
Barrios has plead guilty to manslaughter and will be sentenced to serve between 10.5 and 21 years in prison.

Rumor: Unannounced DS and PSP Indiana Jones in development, more information
As it is, we're not getting any new updates on the supposed next-gen Indiana Jones title from LucasArts. And yet here we are, getting more rumors on the yet-unannounced DS and PSP game.
The supposed handhelds installment would be titled Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings. As Kotaku's sources would have it, it is already in development and is being worked on by Montreal-based developer A2M for LucasArts.
What's it gonna be about? The staff of Moses. Hey, it did part the Red Sea, after all. Imagine what you could do with it in a congested city like New York. Parting the sea of heavy of traffic. Cool, huh?
Anyhow, we also hear that they were also developing versions of it for the PS2 and the Wii, although we have no idea whatever's happened to it, or if anything did happen to it.

New Disgaea game coming to PSP, stars Prinny
This penguin here shot to stardom way before Cody Maverick of Surf's Up and Mumble of Happy Feet were conceptually conceived. You all know Prinny from Disgaea, yes? And don't we all love him.
Well Nippon Ichi apparently loves him, too. So much so, in fact, that they're coming out with a new game starring him for the PlayStation Portable. That's right, there's another Disgaea title coming to your beloved Sony handhelds. This one's to be entitled Prinny: Is it Okay if I'm the Main Character? and will be a 2D platformer.
Not much is known about this game yet, but we found the official website to be already up and running. Everything's in Japanese, though, so while we're excited about the game and all, we can't help but wonder if we're ever gonna get this in other territories.
Cross your fingers for this one. We'll let you know as soon as more news and updates come along.

PS3's PlayTV: you can record TV content while playing games
Good news for PlayStation 3 gamers in the UK when PlayTV launches next month. According to Sony, the service will allow you to record TV content while playing video games.
Makes sense, right? An extremely useful feature If you feel like playing video games instead of watching shows, but your favorite show happens to be on.
The Guardian's Greg Howson explains in his review of the service:
There will be a message in the final build of the code that will ask you to reboot your PS3 to enable the background recording functionality. [...] Unfortunately you can't record two programmes at once - you can record one channel and watch Live TV on another though - which feels a little restrictive.
Also of note in Howson's review is that PSP transfer from the PlayStation 3 requires a conversion process of videos, which is "fiddly" enough to make most users feel that it's not worth it. Although he does note that remote play worked well.
PlayTV will launch September 19 in the UK, with the rest of the Europe, and Australia and New Zealand to follow.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy gameplay vid - Tidus versus Jecht
Gino D. may have been a happy camper when the Onion Knight versus Cloud of Darkness gameplay vid was released for Dissidia: Final Fantasy, but personally I'm a fan of the more recent games in the FF franchise. Which is why I'm the happy camper today!
A new gameplay vid has been released, this time with Final Fantasy X's Tidus versus Jecht! (Someone's got issues to work out.) Watch them as they duke it out on the last boss stage inside Sin. They even used the soundtrack from the fight.
You also get to see Tidus the Jecht Shot Overdrive, but let's not spoil any more for you. Here you go, enjoy:

PSP-3000 battery life shorter; PSP Slim to cease production
In a recent interview with Gamespot, John Koller talked much about the recently unveiled PSP-3000: the improved screen, microphone, bundled releases, and more. In that interview, he revealed that the battery life of the new PSP model will indeed be decreased by about 20 to 30 minutes.
Koller explains that this is because of "a larger power draw with the brighter screen." Aha, just as I expected. Well, "20 to 30 minutes" of a shorter battery life isn't that much of a drawback, methinks. And for those who think that it's the end of the world because of the decreased battery life, Koller confirms that there's still going to be other options out there:
That's going to be off-set because we're still going to have the extended life battery that's still available for the consumers, so they're still going to get the 8 to 10 hours out of that battery. Or the battery that comes with the PSP will now be right around three and a half to four hours.
As for other components, the PSP-3000 model will have the same compatibility with the Slim accessories - they want everything out in the market to work with the PSP-3000.
It's also been confirmed that the Slim will be phased out eventually. Koller says production of the PSP-2000 will cease by September. Already?! If you're a collector of sorts, better make sure you grab a Slim unit ASAP!

Isometric Engine plus Isometric Collision Creator v0.1
French PSP homebrew coder Dungeon has come out with two things of interest to homebrew makers today, and he calls them the Isometric Engine and the Isometric Collision Creator v0.1.
Simply put, the Isometric Engine is a library in Lua which manages isometric collisions. The Isometric Collision Creator, on the other hand, helps translate your code into a collision detection scenario on your PSP.
Dungeon does note the following in his release post, however (as translated by an online translation engine:
Apparently there is a problem with people being 4.01M33 The isomectric collision with creator and example. If this is your case, replace the eboot of luaplayer now by eboot of luaplayer HM 8.
Make sure you check the tutorial instructions (which are in French) so you can use this homebrew to its full potential. Enjoy!

Wii Shell v0.1: it's a Wii Menu on your PSP
Wii Shell v0.1 is a Wii-themed shell application for the PSP that allows you to run other files and PSP homebrew in a Wii System Menu environment. This release already allows you to launch .lua files, as well as other functions common to other PSP shells.
Developer CoDnX says that this is just the first version and that later on, he will be adding a couple more features like access to flash, and music and image functions. Be sure to take a look at the readme (Lisez Moi) and run it through a French translator if you have to.
