Ahead of the NPD data once again is everyone's favorite video game analyst, Michael Pachter. As usual, Pachter pegs the Wii to be the clear winner for last month.
Despite supply constraints for the Wii. (will there ever come a time when there isn't?), Pachter believes that the Nintendo console will still sell more than double than the PlayStation 3.
On the other hand, he also predicts that the PS3 will sell more than the Xbox 360, though he may change his tune next month when the 360's price cut will start to show in sales. He does note though, that he expects Wii sales to surge by 300k next month.
Here's what he believes sales will look like for August when NPD releases their data. He tied both the DS and Wii, and the Xbox 360 and the PSP. Looks like someone's getting less imaginative. These are only estimates of course, but we'll see how accurate they are when the actual data is released tomorrow.
- DS: 550,000
- Wii, 550,000
- PS3: 225,000
- Xbox 360: 200,000
- PSP: 200,000
