MGM's RoboCop film announcement reveals God of War movie director

MGM reveals with God of War movie director - Image 1It appears we've run into more details for the upcoming God of War movie under Universal Studios. The rather unlikely source of this info is a recent MGM press wire announcing the studio's plans to release a new RoboCop movie this 2010, to be written by David Self.

While that's already pretty big news in itself (though not gaming-related), here was the segment of MGM's PR that caught our attention:

David Self's credits include 13 Days and Road To Perdition. He wrote God of War for Universal, to which Brett Ratner is attached to direct, and was a writer on Universal's Wolfman currently in production. He is represented by UTA and attorney Karl Austen.

Well, it looks like we now know which "huge-name director" Jaffe had in mind for Kratos' debut on the silver screen. To his credit, Bretner is best know for directing films like Red Dragon, Rush Hour 2 and 3, and X-Man: The Last Stand. That's all the details we have for the moment, though we'll get back to you if we run into any related updates.
